WARHAMMER X
WARHAMMER 40000
In the grim darkness of the far future…well, you already know how it goes. But there is really only war? Not exactly. There is an pathological obsession with gothic architecture and a galaxy that somehow keeps burning worse with every new edition – imho (totally counts as Inquisitorial immunity). Hey I’m talking about the classic tabletop experience – dice, tape measures and rooms blessed by Nurgle. Sadly, I’m not a big fan of Command Points & Stratagems, especially with heavily railroaded army lists. Just give me 1,500 points and a three-page-long equipment list!
Rules talk aside, I’m actually very happy to see Warhammer 40,000 living through a new Golden Age. Thanks to Demetrian Titus in Space Marine 2 and thanks to Henry Cavill who have raised the 40k battle standard once more. So, the Warden of Ultramar and the King of the Nerds have definitely given the franchise a very welcome boost. We can only hope history doesn’t repeat itself: prosperity often precedes another HERESY!
Anyway, this page is home to 41st Millennium glories – both old and new – sometimes rules adapted from early editions, sometimes full homebrew rules and therefore completely unofficial (maybe counts as Inquisitorial immunity).
One of the goals here is to give a couple of bespoke rules to each canonical Imperial Guard regiment – sorry Whiteshields, I meant the Astra Militarum…and with a representative miniature for each of them as well. The Dieprian Mountain Men and the Teutons have been overshadowed by Cadia and Krieg for far too long. The Lucifer Blacks remain classified (for now).
Did Malcador the Sigillite erase his Eldar-Human hybrids from the records? Did Doomrider finally run out of gas? And above all, Leman Russ is both a Primarch and a tank, so why can’t the Space Wolves – his howling sons – field (the tank) as Heavy Support? If you’re looking for these answers, somewhere between green stuff and rolling dice, you’re in the right section of Kustom Codex.

WARHAMMER FANTASY
In the beginning, there was Warhammer Fantasy, when the Old World was simply the Old World and not yet broken & rebooted as the New GW Project. Archaon, that lovable menace, was already known by his prophetic titles – UHHH I’M THE HARALD OF APOCALYPSE – but the clock of the End Times was still ticking. Sigmar instead, the God of the Empire, ruled just fine without any archeotech psychic throne (40k wink) and was never so pretentious as to claim an entire age for himself or march across the realms with eternally soul-recycled golden Space Marines (40k double wink).
Warhammer Fantasy still has so much left to give and that is why I felt the irresistible urge to cobble together a handful of homebrew ideas, naturally not canonical and proudly not balanced: forgotten armies from long-lost editions, characters buried deep in old White Dwarfs or regiments that may or may not exist only in my own heavily corrupted imagination.
This section runs on nostalgia – admittedly – but above all as a tribute to the incredible initiative behind the Warhammer Armies Project. Follow it. Support it. Play it. This is how the Fantasy survives. All the rules found here are therefore based on the 9th Edition, the tabletop backbone of everything hidden in the lore or shamelessly made up and rolled out with dice.
So brace yourselves! For Dawi in Viking guise, sailing the Sea of Claws and the Chaos Wastes alike. For the Skytitans beyond the clouds, herders of mammoths and masters of cannons. For all the missing cold-blooded, from the fallen temple-cities of the Southlands Lizardmen to the night-haunted legends of the Khuresh Snakemen. For all the rest still veiled in the magical winds of Ulgu…brace yourselves!

HORUS HERESY
Oh yes, the Great Crusade, when humanity was united and the Milky Way was heading in a somewhat constructive direction. At least if you were fighting/dying for the Imperium. The big shiny Emperor was still very much not “resting” on his Golden Throne and his Primarchs were all still together. Maybe not quite like happy brothers, but together nonetheless. What could possibly go wrong? Ehmmm…his favoured son kicked off a small Heresy. That said, Horus did give us a 41st Millennium packed with incredible lore. Thanks, Lupercal.
I absolutely love Horus Heresy as wargame, especially the first edition: tons of army customization, old-style power armour and the chance to relive the Loyalist Legions before everything went too corrupted. Except for those Word Bearers fanatics, of course. Ahhh…my beloved Iron Warriors and Dusk Raiders. On this page, I want to dive into all those units that still lack playable rules. Sure, the Saturnine Terminators have finally become official as models, but there are still plenty of lost artefacts missing.
And let’s not forget the project that truly deserves more attention: the Dornian Heresy. The “what if” history where the Legions fall in reverse – just think Blood Angels of Nurgle. Where do I sign?!?! This alternate galaxy is crying out for home rules and custom miniatures!
Thank you for surviving this transmission
